**Congruent figures**

Two figures having the same shape and size are called congruent figures and the relation of two figures being congruent is congruency.

**Congruency of triangles**

1. Two triangles may or may not be congruent

2. There are different criteria for two triangles to be congruent

**SAS (Side Angle Side Criteria)**

Two triangles are congruent , if any two sides and the included angle are equal to any two sides and the included angle of the othertriangle.

**SAS (Side Angle Side Criteria)**

One important point to be noted here is that equality of the INCLUDED angle is essential. In the following example , 2 sides and 1 angle is equal , but the angle is not included , thus , not congruent

**AAS (Angle Angle Side Criteria)**

Two triangles are congruent if any two angles and the included side of one triangle are equal to the two angles and the included side of the other triangle.
